ZimSchools Inc. (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates ZimSchools.com and any related mobile applications or services (collectively, the “Platform” or “Services”). The Platform is a social networking and alumni connection service that allows current and former students, alumni, staff, and school communities to connect, share memories, post content, and interact with one another.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect your personal information when you use the Platform. It is designed to comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. By accessing or using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised version on the Platform with a new Effective Date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review it periodically.

- User-Generated Content: Posts, comments, photos, videos, messages, event details, alumni memories, or any content you upload or share on the Platform.
- Contact and Communication Data: Information from emails, support inquiries, or notifications you send us.
- Usage and Technical Data: IP address, device type, browser information, operating system, access times, pages viewed, clicks, and interaction data collected via cookies, pixels, logs, or similar technologies.
- School and Community Data: Information about schools, classes, or groups you join or follow.
- Other: Payment information (if you make any purchases, processed by third-party providers) or data from third-party logins (e.g., Google or Facebook, subject to their policies).
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health, racial origin, or religious beliefs) unless you voluntarily provide it in User Content, in which case you consent to its processing as described below.

- To create, maintain, and secure your account and provide the Platform’s core social networking features (e.g., connecting with alumni, sharing content, participating in groups).

- To moderate content, enforce our Terms of Use, prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity, and protect the safety of users and the Platform.
- To analyze usage, improve the Platform, develop new features, and conduct research (using aggregated or de-identified data where possible).
- To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights and the rights of others.
- For any other purpose with your consent or as permitted/required by law.
We limit collection to what is necessary for these purposes. We may use or disclose information without additional consent where permitted by PIPEDA (e.g., for legal compliance or emergencies).
5. Consent
We obtain consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, except where not required by law. Consent may be express (e.g., when you check a box or click “Agree”) or implied (e.g., by voluntarily providing information for an obvious purpose). You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us. Withdrawal may limit your ability to use certain features of the Platform.
6. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information
We may share your personal information with:
- Service Providers: Third-party vendors who help operate the Platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery, moderation tools, payment processors). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide.
- Other Users: Content and profile information you make public or share with specific users/groups (e.g., posts visible to alumni from your school). Be mindful that once shared publicly, content may be copied or viewed by others outside the Platform.
- Affiliates and Business Transfers: Our corporate group or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with appropriate protections).
- Legal and Safety Reasons: To comply with laws, court orders, government requests, or to investigate violations of our Terms, prevent harm, or protect rights.
- With Your Consent: For any other purpose you specifically approve.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify you.
7. International Transfers and Storage
The Platform is operated from Ontario, Canada. Your information may be stored and processed in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate. When transferring data outside Canada, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with PIPEDA.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to recognize your device, remember preferences, analyze usage, and deliver personalized content or ads (where permitted). - Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdraw consent (with limitations as noted above).

To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer. We will respond within a reasonable time and may charge a minimal fee for certain requests (with prior notice). If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent. If we learn we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may revise this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The updated Policy will be posted with the new Effective Date.
